5.

We drive along a little-travelled road by the river.
The few cars that speed past are like shadows.
Fleeting silhouettes.
Wasn't there something to that effect in Shakespeare?
Strutting shadows, pitiful players on a stage....
I could swear it.
Not too sure about the pitiful part though.
"This next one's an interesting property."
Her left side drenched by the western sun, the woman expounds:
"It overlooks a graveyard. I'm sure you'll like it."
A graveyard?
"Been vacant for a year and a half. Ought to lower the rent, but the owner absolutely refuses. So I told him, you'll never have any takers at this price, but he said fine by him. Hopeless."
She retrieves her sunglasses from her bag.
"This place has been waiting for you. I just know it."
"A prime property?"
"Average. Just average. Only you've got the whole cemetery from your upstairs window."
"Is there some story connected to the place?"
"Wouldn't know. Most likely not. The cemetary's acres big though."
She switches on the FM.
The rising antenna is reflected in the rear-view mirror.
